Although her last name is imposible to pronounce, her design and especially her prints can be anderstood by anyone.
Mary Katrantzou’s collection for next winter stays pure to her short but interesting carreer. The prints are always there, this time it takes us to an exclusive dinner in Versailles, where we are going to shine more that Louis XIV . Some of her prints are covered with delicate printed silver spoons, others transports me to the beautiful gardens of the palace. Some paterns move like the water in Apollo’s fountains in a cold winter morning. This collection evoces me to ancient time when they had time to do things right, and beauty was the only goal to be riched.

inIs this an architecture exhibition , interior decoration or just a perfect ART form?
I think the work of Daniel Arsham (1980, Cleveland Ohio) can fit in any of the three terms.
Most of his work is based in pure white, but what makes it unique,at least to me, are his shadows. He is really good in the art of lighting , that is why all his volumes, are so special. He is a master creating volumes, they can be ethereal and weightless, like the collection of clouds, made out of thousands of softly colored ping-pong balls, or they can be bold and shocking like the temporary installation he constructed for designer Richard Chai in collaboration with Alex Mustonen (www.snarkitecture.com)
Now that the OSCARS are coming, or if you are just in LA you can go to 937 N. La Cienaga Blvd. to the OHWOW gallery to take a look at part of his collection.

“One hundred and fifty shades of bleu”
I know that it sounds like a sad country song, but not in Karl Lagerfeld’s hands. When Karl decides to go blue, he goes all the way (as he always does). Yesterdays show was a master class in the use of the color blue. I guess this was a joke for me because I tried the day before to visit the Picasso museum, here in Paris , but it was closed. I think Pablo (contemporary with COCO) would have enjoyed this collection during his blue period.
As the color is not the modern part in the collection, Karl really worked hard the patterns. The tops were cocoon shape , putting an incredible relevance in the neck line. The sleeves were also very strong, short, long, 3/4, french, etc… But the most shocking were the pants and skirts. The waist line can typically be high or low, this time the line was in mid thigh. Karl was inspired by the thousands of boys who wear their pants down and show us their underwear. He has taken this inspiration and make it Haute Couture.
The set up this time was an intergalactic flight, and we are all invited in the rocket.

It is Christmas time. It is the moment for the family, the big celebrations, the time to go church and pretend that you are the good person every body expects…. And it is also the time for the HORRIBLE, hand made sweaters that your mother in law will lovingly give to you as a family tradition. Please, just accept it with a smile, say thank you and one minute later , please “TAKE IT OFFFFFF…..”
I know you have a conflict. Don’t doubt about your good taste, you are right, it is terrible, horrible and you can only wear it for love, but remember, you LOVE your girl, NOT her mother. Just say that it is to hot for the sweater, it is better to get pneumonia than wear that piece of red wool thing….
Go ahead, call me SCROOGE. Believe me, I love Xmas (I have three children, so I love it) and right now my home looks like if a UFO has crashed in to it, but hey not with that sweater.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

inIt is that time of the year when all the visual Merchandizers go crazy. It is the moment to show the world their skills, art, good taste and everything else you can think about.
I know that not every store around the world have a budget as the one in Begdorf Goodman in New York or Hermes in Paris, but HEYYYYY!!! we all know who is doing their best and who is just throwing some red balls in their windows.
If you are the owner of a store and you want me to do the Christmas shopping at your place, I expect that you work your self around crisis and make me dream with your window. If you don’t do it I am NOT going to buy there and I hope that no one does. If you don’t spend time and effort to make me smile, I am not going to be there. We all have to remember that shopping is not a necessity any more and now it has to be an experience. So start with your window. I don’t care if you are a small store in Yamaguchi (Japan) or you are a global company (H&M, ZARA, GAP….) in fact if you are one of the “big ones” you should let your XMAS soul shine at your windows, not only in your flagship stores, in the suburban ones too.
“HAVE GOOD SHOPPING”
